Just like the base pairs that make up your DNA, these Terms of Service (referred to as the “Terms”) form the agreement between Olovnikov Lab (“Olovnikov Lab”) and you. These Terms govern your use and access to Olovnikov Lab’s products, software, services, and website (including but not limited to text, graphics, images, and other material and information) as accessed from time to time by you, whether or not such use is in connection with an account (collectively referred to as the “Services”).
Please read the Terms carefully, along with any policies, guidelines, or rules applicable to the Services, as they constitute a binding legal agreement between you and Olovnikov Lab. You are encouraged to review our Privacy Statement for additional information. If you do not agree to the Terms or any related policies, you should refrain from using the Services. You may delete your account at any time by accessing your Account Settings.
These Terms apply to users residing outside of the United States, Canada, the European Economic Area (“EEA”), the United Kingdom (“UK”), or Switzerland, or to those accessing the Services outside of these regions. Please consult the applicable regional terms specific to the Olovnikov Lab Services you access.
Olovnikov Lab strives to make genetic information accessible to all, but there are certain restrictions on who may use the Services. By using the Services or creating an account, you represent and warrant that:
Certain additional Services may have specific terms and conditions that apply to their use or purchase. Such terms are incorporated by reference into these Terms. You agree to be bound by these additional terms and conditions when utilizing or purchasing additional Services. In the event of a conflict between these Terms and any specific terms governing a particular Service, the latter shall control. Olovnikov Lab’s obligations concerning any Services are limited to the terms of the agreement under which they are provided.
Changes to the Services and these Terms may occur from time to time. Once posted, such changes take effect immediately. If any material changes are made, you will be notified through a notice on our website or via the email associated with your account. Continued use of the Services after such changes indicates your acceptance of the revised Terms.
Once you obtain your genetic information, it cannot be undone. It is possible that the information provided to you, whether now or as research advances, may be unexpected or unwelcome. As research progresses, you may require further assistance from Olovnikov Lab, a physician, or a genetic counselor. We encourage you to seek the counsel of a genetic counselor to help interpret your results.
Some individuals may experience anxiety related to their genetic health results. If you have concerns, you should consult a healthcare professional before submitting a sample for testing. Additionally, the information you discover may be unsettling, and you may learn things that you cannot change (e.g., unexpected ancestry information or health risks).
There are instances in which the laboratory may be unable to process your sample, and errors may occur in the processing. Samples may fail to process approximately 5% of the time due to insufficient DNA, inadequate sample size, or failure to meet Olovnikov Lab’s accuracy standards.*
In the event of processing failures:
If you violate this agreement by submitting another sample after receiving a refund, Olovnikov Lab will not reprocess the sample or issue any refunds. Errors in data processing are an acknowledged possibility, and users are not entitled to refunds for such Errors.
Genetic information provided by Olovnikov Lab should not be the sole basis for any changes in your health behaviors. Olovnikov Lab’s Services are not intended for diagnosing diseases or conditions.
For common diseases, genetic factors may play only a small role in your overall risk. Environmental and lifestyle factors are often far more significant. The Services are not intended to provide information about your current health status or to guide medical decisions, such as medication dosages or treatments.
Should you have questions or concerns about your results, you should consult a healthcare provider before making any lifestyle changes. Genetic risk assessments are not intended for use in carrier screening tests.
Olovnikov Lab’s Services are provided for research, informational, and educational purposes only. We do not provide medical advice, and any information provided is not a substitute for professional medical consultation. The Services should not be relied upon for diagnostic purposes, and any reliance on the information provided is at your own risk.
Olovnikov Lab is licensed in certain jurisdictions but is not universally licensed for genetic testing in all regions. We do not offer our Services in regions where we are not properly licensed.
Olovnikov Lab may invite genotyped users to participate in its research initiatives. "Product Development" refers to research performed for new product creation and activities related to improving existing services, which may include commercialization efforts. Participation in such research is voluntary and subject to consent under Institutional Review Board-approved protocols.
